Like a Kelly Clarkson-Eva Cassidy-Ann Wilson sandwich
with a side of Aretha...
TALENT is back.
Darci Monet is a classically and commercially trained professional vocalist, vocal coach, independent recording artist and award-winning songwriter. She gave her first professional performance at age eleven in Upstate New York in a local production of "Annie", began her professional career during college at Belmont University in Nashville as a studio singer, songwriter and recording artist and continues now in Los Angeles.
Darci's vocal credits include principal performances in film and television ("Napoleon Dynamite", "How I Met Your Mother"), live performances and master recording sessions with major label artists (Dolly Parton, Steve Winwood, Amy Grant, The Judds, etc.), songwriter demos (ABC sitcom "Hope and Faith") and national ads (Subway Corporation). Live, Darci currently performs backup for top ten Billboard-charting dance diva/rocker Debby Holiday.
Songs she has written have been featured in indie movies and major network television shows ("Vampire Diaries," "Kiss The Bride" starring Tori Spelling, "The Apprentice", "The Young & The Restless", "Days of Our Lives"), won awards and honorable mentions in prestigious songwriting competitions (Unisong Songwriting Contest, Great American Song Contest, Billboard Songwriting Contest), and have been cut on major label albums (Music With A Twist, distributed by Columbia).
Stepping out from behind the scenes, Darci released her latest CD on May 12, 2009. Fusion seamlessly brings together "Rock Chick-Darci" and "Coffeehouse-Darci," like a Kelly Clarkson, Eva Cassidy and Ann Wilson sandwich with a side of Aretha. She explains, "This project represents what I feel are the two strongest sides of me as a musician and writer. 'Side A' is the full band, full production pop/rock with a splash of soul I'm already known for. ‘Side B' represents the quiet side that before now has mostly revealed itself in collaborations I've done on other artists' projects." Tracks featured on the album were written with 2010 Tony Award winner Levi Kreis (on whose critically acclaimed albums One of the Ones and The Gospel According to Levi Darci is prominently featured as a writer and vocalist), Billboard charting dance and rock artist Debby Holiday, Jeff Fedak, Chris Mitchell and Brandon Harvey. Fusion was produced by Darci and Steve Gryphon (Avril Lavigne, Gavin DeGraw, Debby Holiday), with pre-production by Ron Jagger (Michael W. Smith, dc Talk).
Darci also released her first music video, labeled a "love letter to the world," for her inspirational song, "Go On (feat. Debby Holiday & Levi Kreis)" on September 24th, 2011.
As a vocal coach, Darci's studio is exclusive and she accepts students by audition only. Darci's clients have appeared on American Idol, X-Factor, in national commercials, on Broadway, in national tours, in L.A.'s best clubs and everywhere in between. She also utilizes her coaching expertise as the author of the popular web column "A Working Musician's Review", in which she reviews contestants' performances on shows like "American Idol." She also enjoys sitting as a judge for talent competitions all over L.A. County.
Darci is SAG-eligible and her publishing company, Songs From The Fortress, is registered with BMI.
